Increased Giving for Public Good in 2015On March 24, the Trag Foundation and Foundation Catalyst, with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) presented the findings of the Annual Report on the State of Philanthropy in Serbia in 2015, at Restaurant Caruso in Belgrade. In 2015, an estimated 22 million EUR were donated in Serbia for public good initiatives. According to number of actions of giving the most active donors were citizens through mass individual giving, than follows corporate sector, individuals and other donors. 2015 VIRTUS Award WinnersThe 9th Annual VIRTUS Philanthropy Excellence Award winners for 2015 were announced today at the Annual VIRTUS ceremony held at Belgrade Philharmonic. The awards were presented by: His Excellency Michael Kirby, US Ambassador to Serbia; His Excellency Phillip Pinnington, Canadian Ambassador to Serbia; and, Mr. Oskar Benedikt, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, Radojka Nikolic, President of the VIRTUS jury and Biljana Dakic Djordjevic, executive director of the Trag Foundation. VIRTUS Award CeremonyThe VIRTUS philanthropy excellence award ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 23rd at Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra Hall at noon. The VIRTUS Award was established in 2007, to promote corporate social responsibility as a part of sustainable development of companies and corporations, and individuals who contribute to development of philanthropy. The award is intended for companies and corporations, small and medium sized enterprises and individuals who have most effectively contributed to general well-being by providing material or other support to non-profit civil society actions or organisations in 2015.

Philanthropy for Green IdeasThe fourth Regional forum of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund awarded the best three business ideas based on the principles of sustainable development, from the Western Balkans region. USAID and Trag Foundation lauch project to promote local fhilanthropy across SerbiaOn Monday, July 13, the Trag Foundation and USAID formally launched a new two- year “Philanthropy for Local Communities” project, worth nearly $326,000 USD. Belgrade, September 16th – Competition for seventh VIRTUS corporative philanthropy excellence award is launched on September 16th 2013. Deadline for accepting applications is October 25h 2013. This award is presented by Trag foundation, formerly known as Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF), with financial assistance from European Commission and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of Republic of Serbia (SIPRU).
VIRTUS award was established in 2007, as the first recognition of this kind in Serbia. It is intended for companies and corporations who have most effectively contributed to general well-being by providing material or other support to non-profit civil society actions or organisations in 2012/13.
VIRTUS promotes the idea of corporative philanthropy and responsible business attitude, with the aim of providing public support for projects which contribute to public good, as well as motivating the greatest possible number of companies, entrepreneurs and individuals to join similar actions. Unabated interest of numerous foreign and domestic companies for this award in the past years shows that donations for public good had become an integral part of business activity in Serbia.
