How Does a Tree Grow
Association “Green Circle” has organized a selling exhibition of paintings within the action “How Does a Tree Grow”. The exhibition took place on December 11th in Bački Petrovac. Association has raised 44.500 dinars that will be doubled by Trag Foundation.
Gathered funds will be used for procurement of seedlings for four primary schools in Bački Petrovac Municipality, within the action “How Does a Tree Grow”.

On November 9th, the association Space has organized humanitarian concert for  the beneficiaries of psychiatric services named “Can You Hear, Can You Feel?”.

Solidarity Crafts Cooperative “The Rug”
Solidarity Crafts Cooperative “The Rug” from Novi Pazar started operating in June 2013 and it is the first of its kind in that part of Serbia. Currently it employs 10 women coming from population categories facing poor economic situation and difficulties to find a job. The aim is to provide labor places for 10 more women through the process of fund raising in local community.

Humanitarian Party to Support Victims of Trafficking Took Place Last Night
Last night, NGO Atina and bar “Idiott” have organized a humanitarian party to support victims of trafficking and raised 26 thousands dinars.
All income that club “Idiott” made from selling drinks will be doubled by Trag Foundation, and those funds will be used to further strengthen support programs for victims of trafficking, from providing basic life provisions, such are accommodation and food, through providing health care, to resolving complex life issues beneficiaries of this organization face on daily basis.

SEVENTH VIRTUS COMPETITION LAUNCHED – AWARD FOR THE COMPANY THAT CARES

Belgrade, September 16thCompetition for seventh VIRTUS corporative philanthropy excellence award is launched on September 16th 2013. Deadline for accepting applications is October 25h 2013. This award is presented by Trag foundation, formerly known as Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF), with financial assistance from European Commission and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of Republic of Serbia (SIPRU).

VIRTUS award was established in 2007, as the first recognition of this kind in Serbia. It is intended for companies and corporations who have most effectively contributed to general well-being by providing material or other support to non-profit civil society actions or organisations in 2012/13.

VIRTUS promotes the idea of corporative philanthropy and responsible business attitude, with the aim of providing public support for projects which contribute to public good, as well as motivating the greatest possible number of companies, entrepreneurs and individuals to join similar actions. Unabated interest of numerous foreign and domestic companies for this award in the past years shows that donations for public good had become an integral part of business activity in Serbia.

Prizes Awarded on the Regional Forum for Green Ideas
Mobile solar dryer made by Anica Simović from Raška has won the first prize, and solar tricycle made by Grabarević brothers from Subotica the third prize.
The second placed green idea has came from Albania, from the author Pezana Reksha - it is furniture made out of  recycling materials. All three winning ideas have been awarded with 10.000 US dollars, to be spent for ideas realization.

Today at 19 hours, in the Artget Gallery of the Cultural Center of Belgrade, Knez Mihailova Street 6 there is the opening of photo exhibition prepared by attendants of the project “The Eye of the City[1]!”.
All photos are offered for sale, and the raised funds will be used for the fund for further education and specialization of project attendants.

Results of fund raising for financial endowment in 2012!
In 2012 Balkan Community Initiative Fund has established financial endowment and initiated campaign Kindness as a gift with the aim to raise funds for its financial endowment. BCIF will raise funds from various sources – individuals, companies, rental, institutional donors, providing services and interest rate earned by endowment. During the first five years money will not be spent, but only invested in endowment fund, and upon the end of that period raised funds will be doubled by Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, up to the amount of 500.000 USD. Together till Finish Line in Campaign Kindness as a gift!

We have achieved our very first big goal in initiating Financial Endowment – thanks to donors and friends we have raised 25.511 USD and reached planned amount! The amount of 25000 USD will be doubled by Mott Foundation, they will donate us additional 50000 USD for community development in Serbia.

The research „Individual and Corporate Philanthropy in Serbia“  aimed to obtain the data on attitudes of citizens and companies towards philanthropy and significance of donations for common good, the most prominent stakeholders, models and practices of philanthropic donations, to provide insight in the areas where those donations were directed to, and to emphasize examples of good practices. In campaign Kindness as a gift, together we have raised 19500 USD! Just a little bit more till finish line! We need to raise 25.000 USD till the end of January that Mott Foundation will double. If we raise 25000 USD, we will get 50000 more to support  civic initiatives in Serbia!

Awarded VIRTUS 2012 Awards for Corporate Philanthropy
On January 19th, at National Assembly VIRTUS 2012 Awards for corporate philanthropy were awarded.
 
This Award is presented by Balkan Community Initiative Fund ((BCIF) in cooperation with Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of Government of the Republic of Serbia, and with support of American Agency for International Development (USAID) and Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC). Financial Endowment – what is that?
When mentioning the term Financial Endowment, the first thought that comes to mind is Nobel Prize.  This prize is mentioned for the first time in 1896, in the will of Alfred Nobel, document that regulated his legacy in the amount of 31 million of Swedish crowns.  The initial fund that Nobel donated to the endowment was invested in the bank, and the interest on the funds formed financial awards. This prize, donation of Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Nobel, is awarded every year since 1901, on the day of his death. Besides Nobel Peace Prize, this award is also presented in the fields of culture (literature), physics, chemistry, physiology and medicine, as well as award for economy. Read more >>
Establishment of summer classroom in Primary School in Milutovac by Trstenik
Ecology movement „Moravski orasak“ has been active in the field of environmental protection in Trstenik municipality since 2003. For three years in a row it successfully participates in a national environemental campaign „Get Planet Wise!“ as a member of Green List of Serbia. This organization mostly works with children and young people, and schools are active participants in all of their activites.
 
Within the program Successful Fund Raising organisation has completed collecting funds in their local community by gathering amount of  2.398,42 that was doubled by BCIF. Read more >>
